DDO Dungeons and Dragons Online
Dungeons and Dragons Online (DDO) is Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game based on the table top game Dungeons & Dragons 3.5 rule-set. DDO was developed by Turbine Inc. and released on February 28, 2006. The game has won several awards including Most Anticipated Game in 2005 by MMORPG.com Reader’s Choice Awards and Best Multiplayer Game in 2006 by British Academy Video Games Awards, and Third Prize for Best Graphics and Public’s Award by Les JOL d’Or in 2006.
Dungeons and Dragons Online takes place in the world of Eberron on the continent of Xen’drik. Most of the game takes place in the city of Stormreach which is divided into numerous areas: the Marketplace, the Docks, the Harbor, and the 4 Dragonmarked Houses. Besides Stormreach, players can also venture to different regions such as Threnal, Tangleroot Gorge, Sorrowdusk Isle, and Three Barrel Cove.
Players build highly customizable DDO characters from 5 races (Dwarves, Drow, Elves, Halflings, Humans, and Warforged), 9 classes (Barbarian, Bard, Cleric, Fighter, Paladin, Ranger, Rogue, Sorcerer, and Wizard), and choose from hundreds of authentic D&D looks, feats, skills, and abilities.
Dungeon and Dragon Online game play is centered on conspiracies led by Cultists trying to reopen the gate to Xoriat, Minions of Khyber trying to gain power over Xen’drix, and Giants that are trying to regain complete control over not only Stormreach but all of Xen’drix.
Unlike many other MMORP games Dungeons and Dragons Online players gain XP by completing quests. Defeating monsters will increase the XP reward but is not the main focus of the game. The Dungeons and Dragons Online quests are divided into 4 different groups depending on the level of difficulty: Solo, Normal, Hard, Elite. On the Adventure players will face monsters, real-time action combat, and explore dangerous dungeons filled with fatal traps.
